About Danske Naturparker
What is Danske Naturparker?
Danske Naturparker ('Danish Nature Parks) is a certification scheme which is anchored in the umbrella organization The Danish Outdoor Council. The certification 'Danske Naturparker' is given to areas that have unique nature, which ensures that you will get a unique nature experience when you visit one of our many Danish Nature Parks.
One of the certifcation criteria is that the nature park must contain a minimum of 50 % proctected nature. Protected nature is fx habitat-, bird-protection and Ramsar sites (read more here). Each nature parks must also have a natur park plan which ensures that the nature park is both protecting and developing nature as well as providing visitors the best experiences in the nature. In a danish nature park there will always be a balance between the use and protection of nature.
The history
In 2013 Danske Naturparker became an official certification scheme for nature parks in Denmark. To ensure the highest quality, there is established a National Commitee for Danske Naturparker, which evaluate all applications. It is the Board of The Outdoor Council that decides if a nature park can be certified.
Danske Naturparker is also a part of the europoean network of regional nature parks EUROPARC.
